The Hampton-in-Arden Local History Group was formed in 1992 as a sub-committee of the Hampton Society with the aim of assisting the planning sub-committee by providing historical information about buildings in the village to help with planning decisions. This soon developed into an interest in the history of the village as a whole and the aim of promoting the interest of local history within the local community.
We hold a large archive of artefacts and records relating to the village and are always seeking to add to the collection. We are in the process of publishing an online catalogue of what we hold. This can be found on the Archives page of this site. We are happy to answer queries about the archive and to allow access to the collection by appointment.
We have held a number of exhibitions and have given many talks over the years. In 2014 we staged an exhibition commemorating the centenary of the First World War, and in 2016 an exhibition celebrating the many and varied sporting activities in the village.
If you have any questions relating to the history of the village, any historical knowledge you wish to share or artefacts to donate, would like to join the group or just express an interest, please email us at the address below. If you would like to be kept informed of the group's activities we will be pleased to add your email address to our mailing list.
